the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
12. Foster such a habit amongst the children that
they do not ask for anything from anyone other than
the members of the household and that they do not
take anything without permission.
13. Do not show excessive love and adoration towards
them as this adversely affects their habits and character.
14. If the child breaks something or fights with someone,
admonish him suitably so that he refrains from this in the
future. condoning or encouraging such actions is undeniably
unacceptable.this would make the child uncontrollable and
future efforts to restrain him may prove difficult.
15. Put the child to bed early every night and get him up early.
16. When the child turns seven develop the habit of performing salah and when he turns ten, punish him if he fails to perform.
17. When he reaches the maktab age (around six years of age).
teach him to recite the Qur'an first. As far as possible, select a
pious teacher for the child. Be very particular about his
attendance.
18. Do not overburden the children with reading, writing,
school work etc. At the beginning, fix an hour and then
increase it to two hours and then to three hours and so forth.
In this manner, make them work according to their strength
and abilities. It should not be such that you subject them to
continuous mental strain throughout the day. This would
firstly exhaust and bore the child. And secondly, overexertion
is detrimental to the heart and brain. The faculty of the
mind is also affected and the child will become lethargic
like an ailing person and nothing would arouse his interest
in the future.
19.Periodically, narrate to him (true) incidents of the pious.
20. Do not allow the child to read books containing
irreligious or romantic or fictitious material.
21. when he returns home from school or madrasah, allow
him to play for a little while to relax his mind and to amuse
himself. However, the nature of play should not comprise
of anything sinful nor in which there is a fear of injury.
