The honourable role of Motherhood

Motherhood is highly respected in Islam and is a means though which a woman may gain immense spiritual rewards.

In a hadith of Nabiصلى الله عليه وسلم it is reported : that once a man went to Nabiصلى الله عليه وسلم and asked : O Messenger of Allah, who of all people, is most entitled to my kindness and good company? Nabiصلى الله عليه وسلم answered : Your mother. Then the man asked: Who comes next? and Nabiصلى الله عليه وسلم replied: Your mother. The man again asked: Who comes next? and again Nabiصلى الله عليه وسلم answered: Your mother. The man asked one more time: Who comes next? and Nabiصلى الله عليه وسلم replied Your father.

This hadith shows how special and important a mother is, in Islam.
